A HUGE five-alarm blaze is engulfing a Home Depot store in San Jose.

Dark clouds of smoke can be seen for miles as the San Jose Fire Department continues to battle the blaze.

Authorities say the fire is burning at the Home Depot store located on Blossom Hill Road across the street from the Oakridge Mall.

Dozens of fire crews continue to battle the blaze. There are no reports of injuries at this time.

As of 7.07pm local time, the San Jose Fire Department was encouraging residents nearby to shelter-in-place.

“If you live/work in the area of this fire on Bascom Ave and smell smoke, we recommend that you shelter in place. Close all doors and windows to minimize smoke from getting inside. Crews in defensive fire attack working to contain fire from spreading from unit of origin,” they tweeted.

The San Jose Fire Department tweeted in an update that the Wagly Veterinary Hospital and Pet Campus nearby has been evacuated.

“Those looking to reunite with pets should head to Golfland on Winfield. Updates will continue to be posted as they become available,” the tweet concludes.

Video footage from the onset of the fire shows debris falling from the ceiling of the store.

Screams of “get out of the store” can be heard in the background.

One angle shows the store beginning to collapse, completely engulfed in flames.

Folks who were nearby reported hearing explosions when the fire broke out.

According to the National Weather Service, the blaze was so powerful, it was showing up on their weather radar.

Fire officials are asking residents to avoid the area while they work to get the blaze under control.

News of the blaze comes as fire crews one hour north continue to fight a fire that broke out at the Port of Benicia.

The Mayor of Benicia said, “It may be a day or even more before it’s actually put out. Right now, it’s a containment situation.”
